Chanel : Vitalumière Aqua Foundation, Review and Swatches

Chanel's Vitalumière, Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup with added SPF15, a highly raved about product by many in the beauty industry, but does it really live up to the standards?

I already own Chanel's Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup and thought it would be difficult for Chanel to trump themselves.  Miracles do happen as they say, this is certainly one of them!

Firstly, don't be fooled by the bottle size, although it looks small, it holds the same 30ml as the Perection Lumière, sneaky hey!  Vitalumière is a foundation sent from the heavens, it is exceptionally light, in fact is acts as a second skin.  Like magic on your skin, your face will be confused whether foundation or silk has been applied!

Scrolling down is a risk you are about to take and this is a warning, a picture of myself with only the Vitalumière Aqua foundation on... you have been warned!

Vitalumière provides a light to medium coverage, so not for those of you who want a strong coverage.  Instead, this offers an everyday fresh faced result.  The sneaky little bonus is that whilst the coverage can also be builded to give a bit more of a medium coverage your skin will still look as though is has minimal foundation on.  In fact, it feels so light you won't think it'll last all day, but Chanel amazes again.  Equally, if you want it to last a bit longer each day simply use primer underneath, jobs a done!

A lot of reviews I read before getting this foundation said they preferred to use this foundation in the summer due to its light formula and switch in the winter.  I happen to disagree on this front as I think it would be perfect on your skin all year round.

Priced at £32.00 it isn't by any means a cheap foundation, however, I don't think it's a bad thing to have a magical quality foundation so am prepared to spend that bit extra.  It is available from most department stores, for example Debenhams.  Don't let the packaging put you off, whilst it is plastic through and through, it means this is perfect for popping in your makeup bag or travelling.

If you're not a fan of using powder then you won't need to, this foundation has incredible longevity.  It will comfortably last you a day at work, however if you were going on a night out I would recommend using a powder just to help secure it that bit extra.

One of the amazing aspects of the packaging is the nozzle on the bottle, which allows you to squeeze out the exact amount you need on to your hand, eliminating any excess wasting.

The long and the short of this foundation is that your skin is going to feel extremely fresh, silky and light.  Natural, your skin shall look and feel natural.

I have found the best method to apply this foundation is to use a buffing brush from Real Techniques however others have recommended using your fingers or a beauty blender, this really is up to you, what you feel best works to get the desired result on your skin.

So the answer is, yes, this product is definitely worth the hype surrounding this beautiful and luxurious foundation.  This product has been on my face for the past 2 weeks and I have not noticed it settling in any naughty places it shouldn't have been, such as lines or creases around the nose.  It stays put in exactly the areas it has has been applied.

The only downside to this foundation is that Chanel have only released 9 nine shades, so not everyone's skin tone may have an Aqua match.

My top tip for applying this foundation are to shake the bottle before you squeeze it out on to your hand, which shall ensure the product is fully mixed.

Now it's over to you, if you fancy giving this product a go, then check out your local department store.  Before buying though, I would recommend asking the Chanel counter if they could test the product on your skin or provide you with a little sample as it's a lot of money to spend and decide this one isn't for you.
