Rimmel Apocalips : Review

I know in the world of make up and bloggers these little gems have been around for a while taking the world by storm.  Despite all the fantastic reviews I hadn't taken the plunge as I usually stick to lipsticks, but the time finally came where I picked up not 1 or 2, but 3 of 13 shades from the Apocalips lip lacquers line including 603 shooting star, 304 eclipse and 301 galaxy.

At a first glance the packaging stands out and is simple, clearly displaying the colour inside.  Don't be put off by some of the colours, as in my opinion some look rather different to what is actually inside (shooting star is a prime example of this).  The colour range offered by Rimmel is fantastic for a drugstore brand providing consumers with a colour for any occassion from brights to peachy nudes.  There aren't any colours in the range where you would think they were too garish or shocking.

The pigmentation of the 3 colours I purchased is absolutely fantastic.  You can build up the colour to make an extremely bold application, however with the cleverly designed wand there is a dip where the product collects providing an easy one swipe motion for an opaque finish.

There was one thing that surprised me about these products in that they didn't dry like a normal gloss, the original reason I avoided Apocalips until now.  Although when applying they are extremely creamy, rich and glossy, they surprisingly dry with a matte finish, so there's no lines being drawn across your face when hair gets stuck in your lipgloss!  As it does dry matte the only downfall is that the colour can dry out a little quicker than a standard lipgloss, however this can be easily resolved by either adding a splash of lipbalm over the top or simply reapplying the colour, none of which are too strenuous.  Even after eating, drinking and endless hours of chatting away you'll be amazed at the staying power of this product (you'll not have to reapply after each cup of tea!).

Overall, I think that Rimmel have done a fantastic job with their Apocalips lip lacquers and I shall definitely be adding more to my collection!

It's worth noting that at the moment Superdrug have a 3 for 2 across all cosmetics in store so if you want to try a selection of these out too now is your chance to make the most of this fabulous offer.  Priced at £6.49 each, they are very much worth the investment.
